The role of Head of Cataloguing, Taxonomy and Data leads and continues the transformation of the Catalogue and Taxonomy Department from its original analogue and operational focus into a digitally minded and thriving multidisciplinary team that provides intellectual control for TNA's collection regardless of medium.
Person specification
This is an important leadership role at The National Archives. You will be a senior archivist, able to operate at the centre of the institution’s work. Leading a group of expert professionals, you will ensure the archive has intellectual control of its holdings.
You also have a once in a generation opportunity to transform the management of the archive’s catalogue, by delivering a linked data pan archival catalogue service.
Comfortable with the complexities of The National Archive’s catalogue, you will be able to manage sensitive issues and provide expert advice. You will pioneer the development of new archival practice for digital records. The role is also outward looking. You will be sharing your experiences with archivists around the world.
