Description
We are searching for a Homelessness Advisor to ensure that statutory duty under the Housing Act 1996 Part 7, as amended, is met. Provide high-quality information, advice, guidance, and assistance to individuals with housing needs. To prevent homelessness wherever possible and practicable.
Responsibilities
Responsible for completing assessments within the legislative framework, providing written advice to all customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and developing a personal housing plan unique to each customer.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* Degree and equivalent experience in a similar role
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements - Criteria-to be Tested at Shortlisting.
* Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation and delivering housing access and homelessness services.
* Excellent assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.
* Experience in all aspects of the Housing Act 1996 Part 7, as amended
* Experience dealing with homelessness legislation as it affects landlord & tenant relationships or homelessness.
* Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 Part VI and Part VII and other relevant legislation, guidance, policy and directives.
* Knowledge of Part 7 of the 1996 Housing Act and the Homelessness Act 2002
* The ability to complete an affordability assessment and have essential knowledge of all relevant platforms.
* Extensive knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act.
* Good track record of achieving excellence in negotiation.
* Knowledge of different tenures.
* Detailed knowledge of homeless prevention initiatives and their application and effectiveness.
* Working knowledge of the welfare benefits system and its application.
* Working knowledge of other statutory and voluntary agencies, providing relevant advice and assistance to customers under alternative legislation and in all forms of tenure.
* A detailed understanding of the terms and conditions in the tenancy agreement across all tenures.
