You will ensure a high quality service is maintained at all times. The Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit provides a vital support service with the decontamination of medical devices to the theatres, endoscopy and external customers.
The Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit has two divisions; the Sterile Services Department (HSDU) and Endoscopy Department, both based at East Surrey Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Sterile Services Technician is to ensure that we provide an outstanding service by ensuring the safe decontamination of re-usable medical devices from the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust's Sterile Services Department. The department also has to meet the standards (ISO 13485 - 2016) as well as meeting the requirements on the Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC).
As a Technician, your role will be one that requires a methodical and accurate approach to the production of theatre trays and procedure packs containing surgical instrumentation and reprocessing endoscopes. Adherence to departmental standards and procedures is essential.
