Job Description
A well-established and highly reputable specialist Temporary Works Design Consultancy has an opening for a Junior Structural Technician to join their proficient and experienced team. You would need a minimum of 6 months' AutoCAD experience working in a buildings environment as a structural technician to be considered for this role, as well as the full right to work in the UK and be living within commuting distance.
You will be given excellent mentoring and exposure to a wide variety of challenging works, including working on a variety of large buildings design projects often involving high-profile and complex buildings projects. There will be demolition works, needling and propping, façade retentions, foundation designs, stability and alteration works, basements, geotechnical works, and some permanent works.
The role will be very varied and would suit a candidate with a problem-solving can-do attitude. Excellent communication skills and English are essential. The consultancy has around 70 staff and is the in-house design arm for a major contractor but also has much of their own external works as well.
You will be using Tekla Structures and AutoCAD, and the role includes drawing and detailing. Experience in both of these would be useful, but good AutoCAD skills are essential. The emphasis here is on high-quality design solutions in a contractor-led, often reactive work environment, so you must be a clear thinker and happy to work in a fast-paced environment.
An emphasis is put on having highly qualified staff, so a desire to achieve Eng Tech status will be well received, and relevant training and support for this will be given. The office has free parking available and is also a 15-minute walk from the nearest station. In addition to base salary, there are 25 days holiday, pension, annual bonus scheme, socials, and one day work from home allowed if so wished.
