Senior Upper Limb Fellow Trauma and Orthopaedics
Harrogate NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Senior Upper Limb Fellow in the department of Trauma and Orthopaedics on a fixed term basis.
August 2025 - Feb 2026, with option to extend for further 6 months
This post will involve outpatient sessions and the successful applicant will join a team of Consultants and a dynamic medical and nursing team. Please note, FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) or equivalent is an essential requirement for this post. Additionally, CCT or CESR would be desirable.
There may be opportunities to facilitate independent clinics and theatre lists. Any available options will be explored further, following a review of the successful candidate's skill set and level of experience.

Main duties of the job
* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
* Assisting with teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
* To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

Job responsibilities
Candidate will:
* To learn surgical skills in Upper Limb surgery.
* To attend out-patient sessions and familiarise themselves with the patients and their supervisor.
* To learn clinical skills in history taking and clinical evaluation of Upper Limb symptoms and signs.
* To learn to interpret Magnetic Resonance Images of Upper Limbs.
* To learn the elements of rehabilitation following Upper Limb surgery.
* To participate in clinical research projects.
* To participate in research and the writing of clinical papers in conjunction with their supervisor.
* To create PowerPoint and video presentations at a high level for presentation at local and national meetings.
* To participate in teaching of colleagues and staff including physiotherapists related to elective Upper Limb work.
* To participate in regular clinical audits and the analysis of surgical complications and morbidity.
* To participate in an on-call rota, currently 1 in 10 for general Orthopaedic and Trauma admissions at Harrogate District Hospital.

* Full GMC Registration.

£70,425 a year per annum. Additional on-call supplements will be applicable.
