Job Title: Senior Finance Manager - Revenue & Commercial

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role is a key member of C4's senior Finance and Commercial leadership team with responsibility for the financial management of C4's commercial activity worth in excess of £1bn TO per annum.
1. Involves daily interaction with the commercial teams and requires a person who enjoys spending time with the business and has a proactive attitude to understand C4’s commercial drivers and is influential in driving financial performance for the Channel.
2. A proven track record of influencing commercial outcomes is a must, as is a robust financial background and the ability to build relationships at different levels of seniority.
3. Develop and implement further analytical or comparative reporting to improve understanding and applicability for forward looking plans.
4. Monitor and understand external economic factors and the impact these KPIs may have on C4’s long term financial strategy.
5. Build relationships with industry analysts and external sources to help predict trends in the UK advertising market.
6. The role will have [1] direct report, work closely with the central C4 FP&A team and other key members or functions in the C4 Finance function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Partnering
1. Will be the day-to-day dedicated Finance lead and support to the Chief Revenue Officer and Commercial senior leadership team, building strong relationships with key contacts across the business.
2. Compliment the activities of the C4 CFO in building a highly effective and open working relationship between the C4 Finance and Commercial functions.
3. Challenge the senior commercial team on performance analysis and future targets and forecasts acting as an independent (yet well informed) voice to the CFO and CEO in Quarterly review meetings and budget discussions.
4. Conduit for all feedback on Finance – should be able to understand the problems faced by the business and shape solutions.
5. Be a good educator and communicator to help management understand finance and how it can help them.
6. Participate in negotiations with 3rd party clients/competitors. Work with the senior commercial team and give advice on deal structure design with the objective of getting better commercial outcomes. Communicate updates and debate/challenge deal terms with senior executives.
7. Help drive innovation through assessing new business opportunities through financial modelling of complex business plans. Be able to communicate any potential financial benefit and risks of these opportunities to senior executives and recommend improvements.
8. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve business performance.
FP&A Activities and Reporting
1. Responsible for the integrity, validity and executive presentation of all the major FY reporting processes relating to Commercial – Forecasts (F1, F2 & F3), Annual Budget and multi-year strategic plans.
2. Working with the Commercial and FP&A teams, providing high level oversight and guidance of the outputs and analysis to ensure the FY outputs are accurate and applicable.
3. Develop and implement, with the FP&A team, further analytical or comparative reporting to improve understanding and applicability for forward looking plans in relation to commercial activities of C4.
4. Lead the preparation of the Commercial 3-year plan with knowledge of Corporate strategy and industry trends.
5. Oversee the reporting of revenues to our Sales partners (UKTV, Discovery) – and report and talk those businesses through their advertising revenue performance.
6. Monitor and understand external economic factors and the impact these KPIs may have on C4’s long term financial strategy and ensure these are relayed back to the Commercial team and FP&A team for consideration in the production of future planning activities.
7. Build relationships with industry analysts and external sources to help predict trends in the UK advertising market.
New Business Opportunities Support
1. Be available to lead the preparation and review of new business opportunities originated in the Commercial area.
2. Work closely with the SFM – New Business Development to ensure these are compiled and presented in the appropriate templates and the applicable scoring models and executive templates are completed accurately.
3. Work with the SFM – New Business Development and CFO to present and monitor these projects as applicable.
Other
1. Assist the C4 Head of Commercial Finance on any and all financial analysis or activities as may be required from time to time.
2. Work with the C4 CFO on any project or commercial activity as may be required from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1. Qualified Accountant with at least 5+ years’ post qualified experience.
2. An experienced team leader with demonstratable business partnering skills and experience.
3. Excellent communication skills both, written and verbal, comfortable interacting and presenting to executive level colleagues.
4. Comfortable working in a highly results focused, complex organisation, undergoing significant change.
5. Previous media and/or advertising industry experience.
6. Proven experience of building excellent working relationships with non-finance members of the business.
7. Excellent commercial awareness.
8. Proven experience assessing new business opportunities.
9. Significant budgeting and forecasting experience.
10. Strong analytical skills; with an interest in detail but able to see the big picture.
11. Strong time management skills; organised in their work and comfortable working across multiple areas, able to prioritise the important issues.
12. High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards.
13. Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills (Advanced Excel skills).
14. Be committed to and aligned with the Channel 4 remit.
