Job Title - Product Development Engineer
Location - Clevedon, North Somerset
Type of Employment : Full-time, Permanent. Hybrid work available, with the expectation of onsite presence as necessary
Reporting to - Group Technical Manager
Responsible for : Managing and undertaking Research and Product Development and other technical projects assigned by the through the Product Development Program.
Duties:
• Theoretical/desktop research including developing new product concepts and conducting feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality, investigating and evaluating existing technologies and undertaking assigned project activities from the Product Development Programme.
• Maintaining detailed documentation throughout all phases of the research and development activities; providing update reports and analysing, interpreting, and disseminating outputs from Product Development activities.
• Undertaking laboratory scale model development and testing.
• Maintenance and calibration of test rigs, instruments, measuring equipment, etc. and maintaining associated records.
• Prototype work / field testing and verification, validation and demonstration of products and concepts.
• Writing and presenting technical reports, posters, conference papers, etc. and through this, disseminating outputs of Product Development activities.
• Work cross-functionally with other colleagues and teams to develop products
• Provision of technical support to business units as required.
• Working in conformance with Company Policies and Procedures.
• To undertake such other activities as reasonably required by line manager.
• To be responsible for the Health, Safety and Environment aspects affecting self, employees and projects in your control.
• To apply requirements of the BS EN ISO 9001 as appropriate within the areas of responsibility
Competencies:
The ideal candidate should possess a degree, HND, or HNC, or any relevant qualification, preferably in the field of Engineering/Civil Engineering. Demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for technical project work, especially in product development and related technologies. Additionally, proficiency in laboratory testing procedures, along with the ability to analyse and present data systematically. The candidate should be adept at working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
