Main Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Domestic Gas Service Engineer to join our team at the MOD in Kinloss, Elgin. This role involves the servicing, maintenance, installation, and repair of gas appliances and heating systems within domestic properties. The successful candidate will work independently, delivering high-quality service in compliance with company and legal requirements. Additionally, participation in an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergency support will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduled Servicing & Maintenance: Carry out annual and interim maintenance checks on domestic gas systems in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, ensuring appliances and systems are safe and fully functional.
Installation & Replacement: Install new gas pipework, radiators, and heat emitters, and replace heating controls and faulty components, including performing tightness and strength testing of gas pipework.
Fault Finding & Diagnosis: Utilize technical literature from manufacturers to diagnose and repair faults in gas appliances and systems, restoring safe and efficient operation.
Emergency Response: Attend to reports of gas escapes and suspected fumes, ensuring swift and safe resolution in compliance with safety protocols and legal standards.
Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedures (GIUSP) by applying warning labels and conducting combustion performance analysis to verify appliance efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all work using the companys handheld PDA system, completing service reports, gas safety certificates, and necessary legal paperwork.
Reactive Repairs: Attend to reactive repair requests promptly to resolve breakdowns and system faults while minimizing inconvenience to residents.
System Testing & Adjustments: Perform system pressure tests, carry out pipework alterations, and install or replace valves, radiators, or other components to maintain optimal system performance.
Health & Safety: Uphold high standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all procedures and safety measures to protect oneself, colleagues, and property occupants.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
Essential Qualifications:
ACS qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1, DAH1, CPA1
OFTEC and BPEC certification (if applicable)
Water Byelaws qualification
UHWC Certification (Unvented Hot Water Cylinders)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in servicing, maintaining, and repairing domestic gas systems and components.
Experience in combustion performance analysis, fault finding, and gas pipework installation, including strength and tightness testing.
Health & Safety Awareness:
In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations and industry standards, particularly related to Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and GIUSP.
Other Requirements:
Full, clean, and current driving licence.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Proficiency in IT, including the use of PDA systems for reporting and documentation.
