A Personal Assistant (P.A.) is required in the LS28 area to support a boy called Nathan, who has a diagnosis of Autism, social and communication difficulties, sensory processing, and severe learning disabilities, as well as hyper mobility, in accessing local community activities. He requires support with personal care needs, for example, toileting, dressing and assistance with feeding.
Nathan is a happy verbal boy, with a pleasant disposition and likes books, music, lights, going to local parks and walks, Nathan must be closely supervised at all times due to his tendency of running off, potential challenging behaviours, and having no sense of danger and road safety etc,
Nathan requires a P.A. for a total of 4 hours a week during term time, and 8 hours during school holidays, worked flexibly on mostly weekday evenings, but can also be required to work at weekends. The working days can be flexible, however, Nathan likes to have a routine, and therefore punctuality and stability are essential in this role,
Experience of having worked with children as well as children, young people with Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.) is preferable. This would include some knowledge, experience and support strategies of S.E.N. that are essential in the following areas: thinking, understanding and learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties, speech, language and communication, sensory and/or physical difficulties.
