Field-Based Wagon Fitters (Mechanical Backgrounds Considered) Location: Cambridgeshire (Primarily Peterborough & March, with travel to other sites as required) Duration: 12-month contract (potential for a permanent role) Shifts: Rotating weekly Week 1: Monday to Friday, 9-hour shifts Week 2: Sunday to Thursday, 9-hour shifts (Initial training hours may vary but will not include weekends.) Pay: Approx. £29 per hour (umbrella) / £22.50 per hour (PAYE) expenses Hours: 45 per week The Role We are seeking mechanically minded candidates to carry out wagon maintenance and examinations across Peterborough, March, and additional sites throughout the UK as required. A drug and alcohol will be required prior to start, this will be in Milton Keynes. Currently, there are around 30 wagon fitters operating across the UK in different territories. While you will be based in the Cambridgeshire area, travel to other sites will be required when necessary. Responsibilities: Reactive and preventative maintenance Performing wagon examinations (full training provided) Supporting slinging and lifting operations Working primarily outdoors Potential requirement to lodge away once competent Travel to different sites throughout the UK if required What We're Looking For Strong mechanical background (all industries considered) NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline (preferred) Full UK driving licence Experience with wagons or rolling stock is beneficial but not essential - full training provided Flexibility to work across multiple locations (Peterborough & March as primary bases) What's in It for You?
