Job Title: Building Inspector / Clerk of Works

As a Building Inspector/Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate the ability to oversee ongoing building works on newly constructed residential sites.
A good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards is required. The role involves regular travel around Essex/Suffolk.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Act as the principal point of contact with the social housing client regarding construction quality on site.
* Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues early, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction with the quality of the construction process and the final social housing product.
* Manage multiple social housing projects simultaneously, employing excellent time management strategies for efficient work practices.
* Visit multiple sites regularly using the company car provided.
* Provide the Administration team with reports and photographs after each site inspection for timely reporting and follow-up.
* Show a good understanding of the building and housing industry, including technical and construction awareness, materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
* Maintain good communication skills and a diplomatic manner.
* Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Experience in a similar construction role, such as Clerk of Works, Employer's Agent, Building Control/Warranty Inspector.
* Previous work with social housing organizations, consultancies, contractors, or housebuilders is highly desirable.
* Good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to read construction drawings.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Great attention to detail and good time management.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
* Clerk of Works ICWIC accreditation is beneficial; other designations like CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will also be considered.
* A formal qualification in construction, engineering, or project management is advantageous.
