Supporting the Assistant Highway Manager, the role involves leading and developing a team of local highway engineers and technicians to deliver maintenance and enforcement operations. Leading by example, you will set a high standard of professionalism to motivate and inspire your team. Key to your role will be managing a team of front-line engineers dealing with highway issues. You will be able to communicate and liaise with a cross section of individuals and groups including elected Members, Districts/Boroughs, parishes and, the public on a variety of highway related issues/enquiries. You will also be required to collaborate closely with our internal and external operations partners to provide a joined-up service for our customers and identify, develop and implement service improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of highway maintenance practices, associated legislation, construction methodologies, traffic management and, highways safety including CDM. Implementing change and driving efficiency projects will be integral to the role alongside your day-to-day activities. Excellent communication and IT skills are crucial to the role as if a proactive approach to partnership working and problem-solving. You should be conscientious, enthusiastic, and motivated, with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines effectively.
