Job Summary
Due to career development of our existing staff and developments within our services, we have exciting opportunities (static/rotational, substantive/fixed term) within our department. We are looking for Senior Occupational Therapists or Band 5's ready to progress to a Band 6 to join our team and help us to ensure that we meet the Trust's vision to provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most.
We currently have static opportunities within our Acute Response Team which services our Older Persons Medicine, General Medicine and a position on our extensive rotation.
The Band 6 rotation provides an excellent opportunity for occupational therapists to continue broadening their skills and to develop greater knowledge & skill sharing across teams. Each rotation is 8 months long and there is the opportunity to rotate through all areas. The Band 6 rotation currently incorporates Neurosciences, Acute Medical Unit, Priority Assessment Unit, OPM short stay ward, General Medicine, Older Peoples Medicine, Oncology, Home-First Discharge to Assess Team, Orthopedics and Surgery.
Main Duties of the Job
We are committed to providing the post holders with the opportunity to develop current/new skills with access to in-service training and professional development. You will receive supervision and annual appraisal; have access to peer support and encouragement to take an active role within your own continuing professional development.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will:
* Provide a flexible and comprehensive service to a designated area.
* Independently carry out specialised assessment and appropriate intervention for patients with complex needs incorporating physical, personal and psychological needs in relation to self-care, leisure and productivity.
* Assess risks relating to the discharge process to ensure a safe and timely discharge of patients to the most appropriate setting.
* Provide advice and information to patients/carers including instruction and training regarding use of equipment issued.
* Carry out day to day supervision of qualified and unqualified staff.

Job Responsibilities
1. To maintain a high standard of professional practice, working within the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
