Job Description
Role Purpose:
As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing change in accordance with NEC-based contracts related to the design of project works.
You will ensure the timely issuance and response to formal contract notices, effectively managing all aspects of change, including early warnings and compensation events. The role involves close collaboration with the client and the contractor’s supply chain.
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead the Change Management process for design-related aspects of the main contract and subcontracts.
* Ensure timely issuance and response to notices and all formal contract communications.
* Coordinate the communication of notices between the client and subcontractors as appropriate for the main contract and subcontracts.
* Administer contracts, including the use of CEMAR.
* Collaborate with planners, commercial managers, and QSs to forecast changes in time and cost, contributing to design program updates and cost forecasts.
* Maintain a risk register related to contract changes.
* Prepare and assess quotations for Compensation Events under the main contract, supported by the technical team and project managers.
* Manage access to systems and assign permissions and authorities to staff as agreed with senior management.
* Control scope changes to ensure the design is delivered within budget and forecast constraints.
* Resolve potential conflicts and disputes.
* Mentor and manage junior staff, including apprentices, fostering their development and career progression.
* Provide regular and accurate reporting and forecasting.
Experience/Criteria Required:
Essential Qualifications:
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Membership of RICS, ICE, or CIOB.
Essential Experience/Skills:
* Comprehensive knowledge of NEC contracts.
* Highly organized and detail-oriented.
* Excellent written English, with strong skills in drafting contractual communications.
* Team player with the ability to work within an integrated team.
* Strong IT skills, particularly with web-based software, Excel, and databases.
