Main duties of the job
* Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information, addressing barriers to understanding.
* Facilitate communication, resulting in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi-professional team.
* Communicate very sensitive, complex condition-related information to patients and relatives, providing empathy and reassurance.
* Exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff, and carers requiring tact and diplomacy.
* Co-ordinate the patient’s journey, acting as a key worker, and lead on patient communication issues.
* Lead change and new ways of working.
* Responsible for the assessment of needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards, reflecting the Trust's policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate skills for assessing and interpreting specialist acute and other patient conditions, taking appropriate actions.

Job responsibilities
This post will provide a comprehensive highly specialist service to Gynaecology oncology cancer patients throughout their care pathway, including the overarching responsibility for the support of patients living with and beyond cancer.
The post holders will work closely with patients, consultants, Macmillan, and the Gynaecology oncology team, including CNS teams and relevant MDT members, maintaining and developing nurse-led services for the management of patients throughout their pathway from referral to ongoing treatment and living with and beyond cancer.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Extensive clinical experience, minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, including at least 1 year of management/leadership experience at band 6 or above.
* Evidence of innovation in practice and participation in research.
* Good communication skills and experience of audit within the healthcare setting.
* Understanding the need to complete Advanced Nurse Practitioner study at MSc Level.
* Ongoing personal/professional development: Evidence of master's level study; Non-medical Prescribing; Advanced Health Assessment Course; Specialist Cancer Nurse Training.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse.
* Evidence of working towards a specialty-related Degree or evidence of continuing academic progression in combination with equivalent Oncology experience.
* Recognised certified course Cert in teaching or equivalent.
* Research qualification.
Skills and Abilities
* ENB 998 or equivalent or experience of formal teaching to groups of staff.
* Formal leadership and management training, leadership and motivation skills, excellent communication skills.
* Organisational and negotiation skills, ability to respond to changing demands of service.
* Excellent specialty knowledge and understanding of the modern NHS and Trust strategy.
* Willingness to complete diagnostic courses relevant to the post, such as hysteroscopy, colposcopy, and Gynaecology Ultrasound Scanning.
* Assertive and confident, with personal and professional maturity, recognition of own limitations, enthusiasm, and ability to influence other professional groups.
* Able to demonstrate behaviors consistent with Trust values.
* Demonstrate a commitment to treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs.
