Main duties of the job
The housekeeper will work with the Nurse in Charge of the unit ensuring that all visitors are welcomed and that excellence in customer care and front of house services are provided. This role will support and supplement those of the nursing staff and does not replace or supplement domestic services, but enhance the patient experience overall.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the unit team, being responsible for ensuring the delivery of a range of activities to support the clinical team in delivering care, including keeping the unit neat, tidy, uncluttered and well presented; the daily stock of clinical supplies and for equipment cleaning and maintenance.
They will be responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable ward environment and will work flexibly being prepared to undertake those non-nursing duties designated by the Ward Sister/Nurse in Charge.

Educational/Qualifications
* Good standard of written and verbal communication
* GCSE level or equivalent
Experience
* Ability to work successfully as part of a busy team
* Sensitivity to cultural needs
* Able to work well with people, particularly the ability to deal with all people fairly and sensitively
* Previous working experience in the field
Skills
* Able to communicate clearly in writing, verbally and on the telephone
* Demonstrate basic numeracy skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload
