What you will do in your working day
Day to day role responsibilities will include:
* Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout of metal components.
* Measure, cut and shape metal pieces using power tools and hand tools.
* Weld metal components together using MIG/TIG welding techniques.
* Fabricate and assemble metal structures according to specifications.
* Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
* Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
* Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environement.
The training you will be getting
* The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard
* This apprenticeship will also include Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
* College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute - Colchester Campus one day per week during term time
