Guildford and Waverley Councils are working in collaboration to provide better sustainable local services and protect them for the future. Our Councils take governance very seriously and one of the key priorities of both corporate strategies is a resilient and well managed council. To support this priority, we are creating a new shared governance team to build on work we’ve already started. This is a new role, offering a unique opportunity to be a part of our journey and to help us shape our future. Reporting to the Joint Head of Governance and working closely with both Legal teams, you will act as Lead Solicitor to both councils on governance matters. You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with an up-to-date practicing certificate and with demonstrable experience of providing governance advice and support in a local government or equivalent organisation. This is an exciting time to join us and make a difference across both councils. This post is a full-time role, however all applications will be considered. It is a hybrid role with a combination of homeworking and working at both council offices. This is a politically restricted post. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Susan Sale (Joint Strategic Director of Legal and Democratic Services) at susan.saleguildford.gov.uk, or Deborah Upton (Senior Governance Officer) at deborah.uptonguildford.gov.uk. Closing date for applications: 9:00am on Monday 13th January 2025 Interviews to be held on: Thursday 23rd or Friday 24th January 2025 Please note we do not accept applications after the closing date.
