We have an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Estimator to join our Property Services team in the North West. The principle purpose of the role is to primarily support the Pre-construction team within the Estimating department.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
* Support the Estimating team in carrying out their duties
* Coordinate and manage the process of supplier enquiries through the Conquest Estimating system.
* Maintain the register of all enquiries as sent and received
* Maintain Pre-Contract supply chain database of supplies
* Measurement and pricing of bills of quantities using Conquest estimating software
* Assist with cost planning of projects from initial feasibility to contract
* Support the wider Preconstruction Team when required
* Carry out general administration associated with tender preparation and submission
* Good verbal communication skills for interaction with internal and external team
* Working with key pre-construction contacts from within the Pre-Contract Team; Bid Managers, Bid Writers, Estimators, Planners and other technical experts

Course contents
* Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
* Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
* Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
* Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
* Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
* Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
* Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
* Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.
Your training plan
* Complete Level 4 (HNC) Quantity Surveying Technician qualification in Year 1 and 2.
* Progress onto the BSc (Hons) Construction Surveyor Degree in year 3
* You will attend Salford University one day a week for 5 years
