Lead the Trading Marine team, providing maritime expertise in technical, operational, and commercial performance while safeguarding the Group’s reputation. Ensure all maritime operations comply with the Group’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) control framework.
Key Responsibilities:
* Terminal Assessments and Assurance:
* Assess all terminals in the Asia Pacific Middle East region, including third-party marine facilities.
* Ensure assessment results are entered and maintained in the Shell Assurance System.
* Follow up on inspection findings.
Data Management:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date data related to terminals in the Shell Assurance System.
* Include terminal assessments, berth compatibility, incident data, and resolution of data conflicts.
Bunker Desk Support:
* Collaborate with local bunker vessel operators to enhance management and operational standards.
* Focus primarily on Singapore, with potential expansion to other ports in the region
LNG Facilities Support:
* Provide team support for LNG facilities and shipping projects.
* Ensure knowledge of the latest approved technology and inclusion of Maritime Design and Engineering.
Contractor Management:
* Support Trading Asia Pacific Middle East in contractor management according to CP and HSSE assurance requirements.
* Optimize contractual performance of shipping service providers, including vessels, marine storage facilities, and marine support services.
HSSE Focal Point Assistance:
* Assist business HSSE focal points in developing and reviewing maritime HEMP and/or safety cases.
* Ensure controls and risk responses are managed to ALARP.
Maritime Security Management:
* Collaborate with the Maritime Security team in London to implement security assessments and inspections.
* Liaise with local agencies to combat regional threats (e.g., IFC, ReCAAP, OCIMF, IMB).
Technical Advice and Support:
* Provide maritime technical advice to Trading, Lubricant, and Aviation.
* Offer guidance on port, facility, and vessel compatibility, training, vessel quality assurance, ship-to-ship cargo transfers, chartering and contracts, emergency response, HSE risk management, cargo quantity and quality, demurrage, and operational excellence.
Incident Investigation and Follow-Up:
* Investigate and follow up on maritime incidents related to vessels and terminals.
* Collaborate with the maritime assurance team on vessel incidents.
Industry Relationships and Best Practices:
* Promote relationships with national authorities and industry bodies.
* Share best practices and influence safety standards.
* Ensure team attendance at regional OCIMF and SIGTTO meetings.
Global Maritime Processes Implementation:
* Support businesses in applying global maritime processes.
* Complete and close out the MPM Business Review.
* Ensure compliance with the HSSE Control Framework, particularly the Transport Manual - Maritime Safety.
* Act as focal point for Trading Asia Pacific Middle East in the SMBR process and assist in closing out review findings.
Data Support and Management Information:
* Provide data support and management information to Shipping and Maritime Asia Pacific Middle East.
Emergency Response Support:
* Provide on-site support to the local Emergency Response Team (ERT) for incidents involving Trading Asia Pacific Middle East.
* Serve as the local interface with STASCO Casualty.
Job Requirements:
* A professional with a proven track record of exercising leadership, team building, communication and influencing skills and an ability to identify risk themes and develop strategic risk improvement plans.
* Extensive experience in shipping related fields.
* Candidates must be able to demonstrate good understanding of IMO Conventions, shipping regulations, HSSE Control Framework and the Maritime Process Model.
* They should have good awareness of political, liability and commercial issues related to shipping of hydrocarbons.
* A senior marine qualification, typically a Class One Certificate of Competence, is strongly preferred.
* The role will require the incumbent to meet the requirements to be an professional maritime subject matter expert in managing risk management.
* Good communicator, both written and oral. Sensitive to cultural differences across the region.
* Good analytical, communication & presentation skills with proven ability to work as an individual, and strong collaboration skills with the ability to lead and foster this leadership quality throughout teams.
* Ability to accomplish the work across a broad range of disciplines, divisions, and businesses, remove barriers and align stakeholders without any formal authority.
* Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills. Can demonstrate learner mindset, internal & external focus, simplicity, and speed in delivery strategies.
* Successful in developing and leading teams with proven ability to coach and develop staff.
* Demonstrable knowledge/experience in the development, use and maintenance of Microsoft IT technologies, software tools and applications
