Healthcare Science Assistant (Cardio-Respiratory)

We are a small but busy department providing a wide range of non-invasive cardiac & respiratory investigations and are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking person to join the team.
The successful candidate should have a positive can-do attitude and be able to thrive in a busy but often challenging environment, must have a friendly approach to dealing with our patients and visitors to the department. The post holder should be able to show a high level of professionalism whilst providing a consistently high-quality service to patients, staff and users of the Cardio-Respiratory Department.
Main duties of the job
This role is split between working within the cardio-respiratory team as a healthcare science assistant. You will play a crucial role in assisting our cardiologists, respiratory consultants and cardiac physiologists with the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The department covers a variety of non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as electrocardiograms (ECG), Spirometry, Ambulatory Holter recordings which you will perform as part of your cardiographer role. You will also work within the echocardiography section of the department, transferring patients from the wards to the department, helping patients to undress, explaining the procedure and having general responsibility for the patient whilst within the department. A large percentage of the role will be computer based to include maintaining patient digital information via the hospitals electronic records system; full training will be given for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will require:
* GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, ideally also have GCSE in a science subject.
* Level 2 Healthcare Diploma or equivalent would be desirable.
* Have previous healthcare experience and/or in ECG would be desirable.
* Excellent communication, organisational and team skills.
* Be able to demonstrate their ability to work as a team player and able to contribute to our multidisciplinary team, working closely with our Cardiology Consultants, specialist nurses and cardiology team members.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings.
