ROLE: Tech enablement - Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager REPORTS TO: Head of Technology Enablement & Automation LOCATION: Dublin / London /Leeds Barden have been asked to act on behalf of a global technology company to lead the appointment of a ‘Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager’ as they look to enhance their global finance environment. The business needs to make it sustainable for the rapidly growing organisation to comply with US accounting and reporting rules and regulations including SOX. "This person will take on a key role in one of the biggest finance transformation projects any company is undertaking globally in 2025. It's a unique chance to join the Transformation programme that will have significant impact across the Division and Group function." Global ICFR Lead This ambitious global finance transformation programme, focused on Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), will span over 3 years and will involve a team of circa 100 people spread across three interdependent pillars, including: IT controls, including supporting the new ERP implementation Business controls, both at a group level and within the operating businesses Modernisation initiatives for both business and IT controls, driven by technology enablement and automation (such as a GRC application). The GRC Manager will be responsible for delivering the GRC related elements of the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) under pillar 3 above for the ICFR global finance transformation programme, as well as potentially supporting the other finance transformation pillars (e.g. finance ERP implementation) by providing ICFR input and insight as it relates to the use and management of the GRC solution. This person will lead with system / technical capability (GRC systems experience). The transformation programme goes across all facets of the business including data, systems, people, organisation design and global process owners. ABOUT THE ROLE: Lead the day-to-day delivery of our GRC implementation phases, contributing to short-term transformation and long-term transformation elements of the ICFR project plan. This includes the configuration and deployment of our interim GRC solution, focused on supporting the Group achieve SOX 404 compliance, and then the configuration and deployment of our long-term GRC solution, focused on optimising our control environment and reducing our cost of control. Perform first-line support for the GRC solution, including providing Group-wide end-user training and leading the resolution of issues experienced by core users and other stakeholders, such as individual control performers and our external auditors. Where relevant, manage the external support, to deliver the specific elements of the ICFR project plan according to the planned costs and timetable. Contribute towards regular project management reporting to the Head of Technology Enablement & Automation, Head of IT Controls Transformation and the Head of Business Controls Transformation. Highlight potential challenges or revisions necessary to scope, timetable, resources or dependencies. Identify improvement opportunities within the specific elements of the ICFR project plan that you are managing, both short-term and long-term, for example changes to the ICFR annual cycle or the automation of a particular control. Collaborate with Technology Enablement & Automation peers delivering specific elements of the ICFR project that utilise GRC functionality, to collectively improve the Group’s overall ICFR position through the optimised use of technology solutions. Collaborate with Business and IT Controls Transformation peers delivering specific business and IT elements of the ICFR project and with the Internal Controls team, who lead management’s testing activities, to ensure the GRC solution delivers efficiencies and improvements across the organisations three lines of defense. Collaborate with the teams of other key internal stakeholders who have ownership in some or all of the ICFR project plan, to deliver the necessary transformation and address concerns they may have. This is likely to include teams reporting to Divisional CFOs and Divisional CIOs, and other senior members of the Group Functions such as Tax and Treasury. Design, implement and operate GRC solution related controls and processes on a day-to-day basis, interacting and coordinating across the organisations three lines of defense, to support and continuously improve the ICFR annual cycle and ICFR control environment. ABOUT THE PERSON: Skills & Capabilities: Good project management and organisation skills, in order to be able to manage the delivery of one or several workstreams to short-term and long-term deadlines. Good management skills, for directing the day-to-day activities of the internal and external support, both during implementation and the subsequent administration of the GRC solution. Strong communication skills, to be able to clearly articulate the status of work and the risks that may cause timetable or cost challenges Good knowledge of GRC systems, both their deployment and management of their ongoing usage for business, IT and entity level controls, is essential. Be able to collaborate with and manage stakeholders from various areas of the business, workstreams within the ICFR pillar and across the transformation programme more broadly. Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment in a management role that is empowered to deliver change. Qualifications & Experience: Experience with global leading GRC solutions is essential, specifically implementation and ongoing maintenance (including related processes and controls). PCAOB audit experience and experience in a professional services or industry role is advantageous, but not essential Experience of delivering and managing ICFR activities day-to-day, across at least one whole financial year cycle, is advantageous but not essential Some experience of other significant finance transformation activities in ICFR or with ICFR impacts, such as global process owner deployment, an ERP implementation, or technology enablement of the annual ICFR cycle, is advantageous, but not essential. Experience of betting, gaming or online entertainment businesses is advantageous, but not essential Experience of Audit Board, Oracle GRC modules (in particular Financial Reporting Compliance), Oracle ERP and related Oracle systems is advantageous, but not essential.
