Join our dynamic team at The Ralph in southeast England (Marlow), the UK’s largest independent multidisciplinary specialist referral centre. We are offering several opportunities for veterinary surgeons in our referral ECC service.
You will join our large team (~250 Ralphers) in a hospital with a busy referral caseload and excellent facilities.
We Are Looking For Dedicated, Enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeons With a Keen Interest In Veterinary Emergency And Critical Care To Fill The Following Positions:
* ECVECC Residency
* ECC Internship (12 months)
* ECC Out-of-Hours Staff Clinician
Start dates are flexible for the right candidates. The successful candidates will join our large Emergency and Critical Care team, which includes six ACVECC and/or ECVECC Diplomates, one ECVECC resident, several ECC Out-of-Hours Advanced Practitioners, three interns, and a large group of ECC nurses. The team is based in our separate adjoining Dog and Cat ICUs.
At The Ralph, you will gain hands-on experience with procedures such as:
* Mechanical ventilation
* High-flow nasal oxygen supplementation
* Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
* Point-of-care ultrasound
* Vascular line placement
* Drain placement
* Transfusion medicine and much more!
We are a proper veterinary intensive care unit with a sizeable caseload of critically ill and high-dependency patients. You will be an integral part of the team and have supervised primary case responsibility. You will be involved in all aspects of your patient’s care, including consultation, examination, developing diagnostic and treatment plans, instrumentation, carer communications, and writing of discharge reports.
Residents and interns work a mixture of weekdays, weekends, and nights. The working pattern for our ECC OOH Staff Clinicians includes weekday and weekend nights and weekend and Bank Holiday days. Training roles include regular, structured, dedicated time for teaching activities and all ECC vets are encouraged to participate.
Our ECC service works closely with diplomates in all our disciplines, including Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Cardiology, Dentistry, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Surgery. You will also work with our excellent Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation team, which is keen on providing its services to ICU patients.
You will receive pastoral support from within your service, our Resident and Vet Intern Support Officers, and others. You will have regular check-ins and feedback opportunities.

Marlow is conveniently located only 25 minutes from Heathrow Airport, 45 minutes from Luton Airport and one hour from Gatwick or Stansted Airport.

* You must be an MRCVS; ideally, you will already be eligible to work in the United Kingdom. Visa sponsorship is available for the residency and the OOH Staff Clinician role. * Internships last twelve months; we may extend them by mutual agreement.
