We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is committed to improving outcomes for young people who require interventions for Drugs and Alcohol. This position is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity.
In this role you will be responsible for undertaking assessments and delivering substance misuse interventions to young people in Torbay, providing a comprehensive and flexible assessment service.
The successful candidate will:
* Have experience of supporting and engaging young people and their families and delivering interventions.
* Have experience of undertaking holistic assessments with young people and their families.
* Knowledge of the identification and responses to the harms of substance use.

As part of this role, you will work closely with the youth hub, youth justice service, young carers service, and exploitation service and partners including Schools, Health and Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector.

This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.

Skills
* Demonstrate a successful track record of intervention work with children, young people and their families.
* Committed to, and able to demonstrate, anti-discriminatory practice.
* Have excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Effective at dealing with conflict and challenging behaviour.
* Effective ICT and case recording skills.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of substance misuse (drugs and alcohol) and awareness of national and local initiatives.
* Knowledge of psychological and physical dependence of substances and the risks substance misuse may pose in the short and long-term.
* Knowledge of relevant policy, government drug and alcohol strategy documents and relevant NICE guidance.
* Knowledge of the criminal justice process, specifically in relation to young people.
* Knowledge of child/adolescent development and young person-centred interventions.
Experience & Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE/Level 2 standard or equivalent.
* Experience in supporting and engaging young people and their families and delivering interventions.
* Experience of undertaking holistic assessments with young people and their families.
* Experience of working 1:1 with young people.
* Experience of delivering interventions to young people.
