This role can be worked from either our Warrington or Middlesbrough offices, and we currently offer a 60:40 working pattern with a minimum of three days in the office each week. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Together with your team of engineers and designers, you are responsible for the Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) design within multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects.
* You will act as the technical authority for the EC&I discipline in Bilfinger, supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets.
* Projects predominantly reside in the UK, but you will be expected to carry out projects for Europe and potentially wider areas of the Bilfinger business.
* These projects will range across the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, in both green and brownfield applications.
* The projects will vary in complexity and size, delivered for all major sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Food).
* You are responsible for managing and completing the EC&I engineering and design within budget and planning, including change control and consistency with other disciplines.
* You shall be client-facing and manage expectations in relation to the project scope.
* You are responsible for the quality of the EC&I engineering and design.
* You will participate in internal and external design reviews and are responsible for design acceptance by the client.
* Depending on size and complexity, you may be Lead Engineer EC&I for one project or for a portfolio of projects.
* Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within EC&I Engineering.
* You shall be able to lead projects in a multi-discipline environment and coordinate all EC&I engineering and design with other disciplines (Mechanical, Civil and Structural, Process, and Automation).
* You shall effectively carry out, check, and approve Engineering and Design estimates, controlling and reporting all costs on allocated projects in terms of progress, scope change, and man hours.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
If you have the following profile, then we are looking forward to meeting you:
* Previous experience as Lead Engineer EC&I in multi-discipline projects in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company in one of the above-mentioned sectors.
* Experience acting as a technical authority or line manager for an engineering organization.
* Deep knowledge of EC&I engineering and design, and sound knowledge of other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, and Process).
* MEng / BEng in EC&I Engineering.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (Preferred).
* TUV Certification.
* Strong understanding of the main standards related to your discipline including 7671, 7430, 61508, 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, LV, and HV.
* Experienced with the production of EC&I specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules.
* Result-oriented; satisfied only after your engineering and design is accepted by the client, delivering top quality and ensuring client satisfaction.
* Ability to plan and organize activities before allowing your team to start spending hours, understanding dependencies within the EC&I discipline and between EC&I and other disciplines.
* Experienced with main EC&I design packages including AMTECH, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, Dialux, and all Microsoft Office packages.
* Capable of identifying growth within the company with support to sales, business management, company procedures, and strategies.
* Ability to delegate to your team while remaining informed about the EC&I discipline and intervening if required.
* Implement a solid change control procedure for your team, convincing clients of budget and planning consequences of changes.
* Capable of leading and motivating your team to achieve targets, even in case of setbacks.
* Able to chair design review meetings.
* Enjoy teaching and coaching the young generation of EC&I engineers and designers.
