Job summary
The Senior Analyst has a key role in delivering NICE's ambition to be part of a system that constantly learns from data and implementation. The post holder will support a programme of work that will ensure that NICE expands its uses of data to inform guidance to the health and care sectors. The post holder will work closely with the Scientific Adviser, Technical Adviser (Data Scientist) and Associate Director for Data Access and Analytics, and other Data and Analytics Team members.
Main duties of the job
* Leading analytical projects and producing analytical outputs for internal and external stakeholders, particularly relating to the development of NICE guidance products (e.g. guidelines and technology appraisals)
* Developing reproducible analytics, pipelines and tools to support the needs of the organisation
* Working closely with other team members, including quality-assuring outputs
* Advising others on the use of healthcare databases for analytic purposes
* Maintaining close links with relevant programmes, and contribute to activities as needed
* Working with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that the outputs from the team are of a high standard and are consistent with other NICE products and ensure alignment of work with NICE's broader strategic ambitions and process developments
* Engaging with external partners to deliver outputs including from the health and social care sector, patient groups, academia, and life sciences

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications Essential
* Masters in a relevant discipline (data science, health economics, medical statistics, epidemiology, health informatics or another quantitative discipline) or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience
Experience Essential
* Experience working with different sources of healthcare data, including electronic health records, administrative databases, patient registries, patient-generated health data, and patient experience data
* Experience planning and undertaking complex data projects, taking responsibility for delivery, including study design or data analysis
Skills/Knowledge Essential
* Ability to use common statistical programming languages such as Python or R, and query languages such as SQL
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to analyse, critique and synthesise highly complex information and present it clearly and precisely, both verbally and in written formats
