What your typical day looks like: To be a successful Health Care Assistant/Driver you'll need: Carrying out direct patient care duties under the direction and supervision of trained nursing/medical staff. Undertaking further training to carry out and extend skills e.g. basic wound closure, recording ECGs, urinalysis as directed by qualified nursing staff. Assist in general administrative and clerical duties and maintain manual/computerised records as required. To comply with all Company policies, procedures and practices and to be responsible for keeping up to date with any changes to these. Transport Clinicians to and from home visits. Undertake daily checks to ensure the vehicle to be driven complies with the requirements of the law and is in running order (e.g. maintain the vehicle by taking measurements of oil, fuel, window wash and coolant levels at the beginning of a shift). To report any vehicle faults/accidents to the Shift Supervisor/Duty Manager/Transport Manager To be in charge of the vehicle at all times ensuring no other person takes control of the vehicle in your presence. To transport staff to and from sites during adverse weather conditions. Driving continuously for a substantial proportion of the shift. Keeping our patients, the public and ourselves safe and well is part of every role in DHU.
