Job Responsibilities
To answer incoming calls to the order office quickly, politely, and professionally.
To receive customer orders ensuring accuracy of information while keeping call times to a minimum.
To schedule deliveries via Waste Logics to maximize fleet utilization and to liaise with plant staff and drivers on daily movement and activities.
To monitor daily delivery progress and liaise with customers.
To understand the capacities and capabilities of the fleet and schedule work accordingly.
To maintain good working relations with plant staff, customers, drivers, and the sales team.
To ensure customer service is not compromised with a lack of vehicles in conjunction with achieving best vehicle utilization.
Ensure hired in transport is kept to a minimum and is closely monitored for performance against our fleet to ensure cost-effectiveness.
To share best practices with the distribution and sales teams to ensure customer knowledge, geographic knowledge, and efficiencies are communicated and incorporated into daily activity.
Liaise with weighbridge, unit, and other regional coordinators to optimize distribution solutions (including back-loads between areas). Liaise with sales staff as required.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and hauliers.
Understand the forward order and forecast sales volumes to evaluate the impact on distribution requirements.
Key Performance Indicators
* On-time deliveries.
* Monitor and record Distribution and Service KPI’s.
* Telephone response times.
* Query levels.
* Quality of reporting – on-time deliveries, plant availability etc.
* Cost per tonne/metre.
Job Requirements
Essential:
* High level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Proven track record as a team worker.
* Keyboard and VDU experience.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Construction, Muckaway, and Aggregates.
* Knowledge of local and national geography.
Experience:
* 1 year in customer service/operations/transport role.
Management/Leadership Skills:
* Proven capability to build effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.
* Demonstrated ability to use own initiative to improve performance and service.
Education/Qualification:
* Good level of English & Math.
* Working understanding of standard software packages.
Competencies:
* Knowledge of aggregates, Muckaway, and building products business.
* Logistics experience.
