How you'll make a difference
As Business Support Supervisor, you will ensure officers are supported in a timely and efficient manner to be able to provide an effective service for customers. Supporting professionals within Social Care and Preventative Services and Education, you will work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and adults within South Gloucestershire.
The Business Support team collectively provides administrative and financial support to a range of professionals based at any of our four sites: Badminton Road, The Kingswood Centre, Patchway Hub or Kingswood Hub.
What you will be doing
* Your primary focus will be supervising the Business Support Administration team. Daily, you will allocate and check their work, with the aim of providing an efficient and consistent support service for staff and managers across the department.
* You will organise and ensure there is sufficient cover to enable the department to provide an effective service, which will include developing staff and ensuring timely and accurate completion of work.
* It will be your responsibility to oversee the day-to-day specialised database, financial services and general administrative support requirements for the department.
* It will be key for you to conduct research and collation of information for reports, assisting officers in drafting documentation across a variety of work areas including children’s and adults social service teams, education, special educational needs and health.
* Regularly, you will be expected to lead on customer relations and communicate any issues to senior members of staff, as well as monitoring and maintaining records for the team, which may include performance, sickness, annual leave etc.
* It will be your responsibility to participate with 1-1’s, PDPR’s and assist with the recruitment of staff for the teams you supervise.
What we need from you
* It is essential that you hold a minimum qualification of 3 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English and maths or equivalent, or have experience of supervising staff within an administrative team.
* Given the elements of the role, you must be able to collate information from a variety of sources and present findings.
* You must be able to prioritise workloads to meet peaks in demand and be flexible and resilient to be able to meet deadlines.
* It is key that you have good communication skills and have good literacy skills, to be able to contribute to writing clear, accurate and concise reports.
* You will have effective IT and numeracy skills including the ability to accurately update information systems and databases.
What you need to know
* This is a part-time role, working 18.5 hours per week. Your salary will be pro-rated to hours worked.
* Working days will be Wednesday afternoon, Thursday 8.45-17.00 and Friday 8.45-16.30.
* This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, Yate and working from home.
