Job Description:
Join us as our Positive Behaviour Support Team Leader (internally known as Lead Support Worker). You’ll manage our team to provide person-centred and strengths-based support to our customer (let's call them J), who has complex needs including a learning disability and autism.
J is a super intelligent, gentle and calm young man who needs our dedicated and positive team to help him reach his full potential. He has some sensory processing difficulties and is hypersensitive to sound, wearing ear defenders to help manage his sensitivity. When stressed or anxious, J can display challenging behaviours, and we need you to take the time to get to know him, being caring, understanding, reassuring, and positive.
As part of our team, you'll help J overcome his barriers to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Your typical day as our PBS Team Leader includes:
1. Helping J overcome barriers and reach his true potential.
2. Recognising his strengths and abilities, helping him take small steps at his pace.
3. Supporting J using the Positive Behavioural Support model to promote independence and social inclusion.
4. Monitoring our customers’ mental and physical health to identify any signs of deterioration.
5. Motivating, directing, guiding, and supporting your team to work effectively with our customers.
Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers' lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for one of the top ten Great Places to Work in the UK!
You have:
1. Experience in CQC Regulated services, with a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Health & Social Care or equivalent.
2. Worked as a Senior Support Worker, leading support for people with complex needs or behaviours of distress.
3. A patient and calm approach, able to adapt your style to J's needs.
4. Great people management and motivation skills.
5. Experience of positive risk management, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of customers and colleagues.
6. A driving license is preferred but not essential.
7. Ideally, knowledge of Makaton, but that’s not a deal breaker.
Our team is led by Deb, our Registered Manager, who has a clinical background as a nurse. You’ll work on a rota basis; 15-hour shifts between 7am and 10pm, with some sleep-in shifts and on-call duties, paid in addition to your standard rate.
We’ll ensure you have a fantastic induction with ongoing learning and support. You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
What’s in it for you?
1. 34 days leave (including bank holidays and a “me day”), increasing to 39.
2. Health cash plan saving you from £1140 per annum.
3. Over 800 high street discounts on groceries, holidays, and days out.
4. Career growth opportunities.
5. A supportive work environment focused on wellbeing.
