Wood is recruiting for a Site Engineer for Civils (Overhead Lines) to join its Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd entity focusing on supporting foremen, timbermen, and subcontractors in the construction of overhead lines sites. As a Site Engineer, you will oversee daily health & safety protocols for staff and subcontractors, report incidents, manage project resources, ensure compliance with safety standards, support the Site Manager and Project Manager with documentation and reporting, and coordinate effectively with all stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing team at Wood, t his role is site based primarily in the Scottish central belt region with long term project sites based in Argyll and Bute supporting our client SSE. This opportunity is a site-based position, we have works issued under various OHL frameworks which mean the position is UK wide. You will need to be flexible in your work location as you will be away from home for periods of time and will travel and work across the UK. LI-Onsite The Role Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, as a new team member you will oversee the site management team coordination of foremen, timbermen, and sub-contractors while liaising with clients and third parties, and manage the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL). You will be contributing to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero. Report Safety incidents and “near misses” internally and externally Plan, coordinate, and manage Foremen, Timbermen, and subcontractors; and assist Site Manager in checking staff competencies and training Control costs and monitor financial status of your project area Produce method statements, work instructions, and risk assessments Provide Project Manager with information for monthly reports and project change control Plan and coordinate resources (plant, materials, labour) for projects Determine material requirements and liaise with Procurement Liaise with clients, third parties, and stakeholders Collect and collate QA documentation for final records. Support Site Construction Manager in developing target costs. Expected: Demonstrated industry experience in a similar role Possess a recognised Safety Qualification (such as IOSH or NEBOSH) Previous experience in the management of sub-contractors and the recording of measurement details to enable financial settlement Supervisory experience of technical aspects of construction, including access and accommodation works, traffic management, scaffolds, metal access roads, yard setup, welfare facilities, foundations, conductor and fitting replacement works Willingness to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods of time Demonstrated experience with foundation construction in power transmission projects Proven coordination with third parties (local councils, highway authorities, environment agencies, Network Rail, DNOs – Western Power, Eon, & EDF; BT, National Grid Wireless, National Grid Land and Development).
