Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Offshore Substation Engineer Location: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Dundalk Contract: Permanent We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to work on Offshore Substation projects to join our client’s team. The successful applicant will be expected to provide technical expertise for proposals and projects and represent the company in client meetings as appropriate. Typical Offshore Wind (OSW) Activities Include: Feasibility Studies Optioneering Studies Specification Preparation Technical Bid Review Design Assurance Design Review Site and FAT Visits OEM Support Services Due Diligence Technical Expert Services Original Design (as required) You will work closely with internal and external teams, including the HVDC, Civils, Cable, and Protection & Control (P&C) teams, to deliver comprehensive services to clients. Qualifications: Professionally qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field (Degree and/or Master's level or equivalent). Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards gaining Chartership with a relevant institution. Technical and Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Offshore Wind (OSW) technology and projects, with a strong foundation in general power systems engineering. Coordination across project disciplines, external subcontractors, and remote offices to identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met. Significant experience in OSW engineering consultancy, typically in Site Engineering or Engineering Supervision roles. Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirements management. Familiarity with the functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between OSW installations and the national electricity grid. Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions, and foster client relationships. Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining safety, quality, and engineering integrity. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing and presenting technical reports and addressing client technical inquiries. Responsibilities: Collaborate with experienced staff to complete physical engineering designs, generate plans, specifications, technical calculations, and reports. Knowledge of Substation Physical Engineering design for both utility and renewable substations. Adhere to current codes and standards (e.g., Eirgrid, ESB, NG, IEC, IEEE). Perform technical calculations under supervision. Collaborate with other disciplines and the project engineering team to address structural and civil design requirements. Ensure that project tasks are completed within the designated timeframes and budgets, providing guidance on schedules and project hours.
