Description Peer Support Worker - Neurodivergent - fixed term/secondment opportunity for 1 year due to funding. Salary : Band: 6, £27,363 - £31,067 p.a. 37 hours per week - Monday -Thursday 8:30 - 17:00, Friday 08:30 - 16:30 with some evening work required. Part time will be considered - minimum 30 hours. The Service Based at Spithead Resource Centre, Montgomerie Road, Room One is Portsmouth's autism hub, supporting autistic and neurodivergent adults 18, in the PO1 - PO6 area. It works primarily on a peer led model, offering peer mentoring, peer support, signposting and providing advice and guidance. Room One does not require a diagnosis to access the service. As it is a peer led service, lived experience of neurodivergence is required, but a formal diagnosis is not required. Your New Role Working as part of a small team supporting autistic and neurodivergent adults, you will have a good knowledge of the issues impacting autistic and neurodivergent adults. You will lead peer mentoring session on a 1:1 basis and facilitate groups either on focused topics or ad-hoc discussions as well as provide support in the community in a variety of settings. You will liaise with other services to ensure adequate knowledge of what is available in the local community as well as representing Room One at public events, forums and meetings. With good verbal and written communication skills you will be able to converse with a wide range of people, using a non- judgement, inclusive approach to the support you provide. With experience of providing support on a group or 1:1 basis you will think creatively when planning the support needed. You will be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of people you are supporting and confident to travel around Portsmouth as required in the role.
