We are looking for a Full Time Workshop Manager to join our team in Enfield. As the Workshop Manager, you will ensure the effective running of the fleet maintenance function, resulting in timely and cost-effective maintenance of vehicles and the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU). Dedicated to ensuring your team is engaged, well managed and performing to the highest standards against their business set KPIs, you will lead by example to meet all safety, legal and operational requirements and standards.

Salary: Up to £52,000 per annum (including London Weighting)
Hours: 37.5 hours Per Week
Working pattern: Any 5/7, predominately Monday to Friday
Location: Enfield, EN3 7QP
What you’ll do:
* Have a clear operational plan to meet them whilst looking for ways to reduce cost and improve service
* Leading the way in terms of best practice, identifying and implementing improvements to help increase reliability and decrease spare part requirements to improve Health, Safety & Wellbeing
* Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency and subcontractors
* Conduct investigations into non-compliance, reporting and regular checks to ensure standards are being maintained
* Delivering the vehicle maintenance budget
* Assisting in the recruitment of new team members in line with the Gist values
* Evaluate the performance of both Gist permanent employees and agency staff and provide constructive and clear feedback to aid in personal & professional development
* Where possible, ensure that training and development for both yourself and your team is identified and undertaken
* Addressing issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, absences etc in line with HR and legal guidance
* Purchasing, negotiating best rates and ensuring key spare parts are kept in stock whilst working within budgets
* Communicating regularly and effectively with shift managers to ensure minimal disruption to production
* Ensuring that trip and driver requirements (both numbers and skills) are understood and met
* Manage relevant aspects of fuel and vehicle maintenance in conjunction with other areas of the business
* Prioritising work / daily activities and delegating to the engineering team
Who you are:
* NVQ Level 2/3 in vehicle maintenance and repair
* Qualified engineer, with electrical/mechanical experience
* Experience in a similar role, ideally within a logistics environment
* Experience of managing a team
* Sound knowledge of budget management and forecasting costs
* Previous project management experience i.e. improvements/cost savings/new equipment installations
* Positive approach to Health, Safety & Wellbeing initiatives
* Previous experience with Trade Unions would be desirable
