Are you an experienced, forward-thinking dietitian looking for your next career move? An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic dietitian to join the paediatric team based at Southend Hospital to deliver a specialist dietetic service to both the inpatient and outpatient children within the local area.
You will have the opportunity to review and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in shaping improvements in dietetic support for children and families whilst drawing on recommendations, best practice guidelines and national guidance.
You will be part of a well-led, dynamic and friendly MSE-wide team consisting of children's Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Dietitians, and Speech therapists, who constantly strive for integrated working - optimising patient care and team morale.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the delivery of highly specialist dietetic support to children and young people within Mid and South Essex NHS Trusts. The post holder will be based at Southend Hospital but may be required to offer support on other sites within MSE at times.
The role involves:
1. Working as a team lead
2. Providing a high level of clinical advice to patients in the following groups:
1. Patients receiving home enteral feeding
2. Neonatal nutrition
3. Mixed general outpatients, including fussy eating, allergies, faltering growth
3. Providing dietetic input to the paediatric ward and neonatal unit.
4. Promoting dietetics and the role of the dietitian.
Specialist skills will be used to manage their own caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, without direct supervision. They will be confident undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, developing and delivering individualised treatment plans.
You will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside families, Consultants, Nursing Teams, and AHPs to provide evidence-based care.
The post holder will be involved in developing the children's dietetic service, drawing on recommendations and best practice guidelines and will be expected to partake in evidence-based audit and research projects.

Job responsibilities
The Children's dietetic service is an integral part of the Trustwide Children's Therapies team and we work closely with other therapy colleagues.
We have site-based team leads, as well as an MSE-wide Children's Therapy lead and Head of Therapies. We also work closely with our adult counterparts.

Person Specification
Qualifications / experience
1. HCPC registration
2. Degree or other recognised qualification in Dietetics
3. Strong evidence of CPD (portfolio) with evidence of training in paediatrics / neonatal nutritional care.
4. Master level or equivalent post graduate qualifications / evidence of post graduate learning relevant to the clinical field.
5. Significant level of general, acute paediatric dietetic experience plus demonstrable clinical experience within a specialist area
6. Evidence of working across a range of inpatient wards
7. Experience of leading audit and service developments
8. Recognised experience and training in neonatal / paediatric dietetics.
9. Completion of BDA Master's module(s)
10. British Dietetic Association (BDA) Paediatric / Neonatal group member.
Skills / knowledge
1. Recognised level of expertise in assessment/treatment within the specialty
2. Use of evidence-based practice
3. Demonstrable interest in working within Neonatal / paediatric care
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - including observation, listening and empathy skills
5. Appreciates own limitations.
