We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and motivated team member to join our busy Business Rates and Sundry Debts Team as a Business Rates and Sundry Debts Officer.
The Business Rates and Sundry Debts team is a small team within the Council’s Customer Services department and plays an important role in the financing of the services delivered to our residents.
The Team is responsible for the billing and management of the Council’s Non Domestic Rates payers as well as the issuing of invoices and administration of accounts for amounts due to the Council in respect of commercial rents, billable services supplied to residents and certain statutory charges.
You will deal with customer enquiries in writing or over the telephone, updating their accounts in accordance with legislation, local policies and strategies. Prioritising work in order to meet deadlines and working towards personal and team targets with minimum supervision.
This is a permanent part-time position covering 22 hours a week on set days to be agreed. The position is a hybrid role which will allow you to work from home and the office once you are fully trained.

About You
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge, and work experience:
* Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of working as part of a team in an administrative and customer facing role.
* The necessary written and verbal communication skills to be able to convey information clearly and accurately to all customers and partners.
* Experience of working under instruction and on own initiative with the ability to quickly collate and assess information in order to reach solutions.
* A proven ability of using office IT systems, preferably Civica Open Revenues, and be competent in all Microsoft applications.
* Enthusiasm & commitment to meet team and individual performance measures set as well as explore opportunities for performance improvement.
* Educated to GCSE grades A-C or equivalent including Maths and English.
* An understanding of the Non Domestic Rates Regulations and its application to business rates customers is preferable but not essential.
