There are two adjacent Orthopaedic wards with 27 and 33 beds respectively; one ward is for elective surgery and the other for emergency admissions. Outpatient sessions are conducted in the Orthopaedic/Fracture clinic suite that lies adjacent to the Accident and Emergency and Radiology departments. The department treats musculoskeletal disorders and injuries in adults and children of all ages. We provide a trauma service, after initial assessment and resuscitation in the Accident and Emergency Department, for all patients who have sustained a recent injury.
The department has regular teaching sessions and is committed to further education to assist with your career progression. We have associated teaching hospital status with the University of Sheffield and strong links with the South Yorkshire Orthopaedic Training programme since the Education Training Programme Director works here. In joining this Trauma and Orthopaedic Service at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, you will be working with a nationally acclaimed training unit which produces and retains some of the best-trained and qualified Surgeons in the country.
