The ‘One Children’s Service Transformation Programme’ aims to deliver stability, improvement, and confidence in transforming the Children’s Services Directorate. This high-priority programme, mandated by the Corporate Management Team and aligned with ‘A Bright Future Strategy,’ envisions children and young people in Plymouth growing up healthy, happy, safe, and able to achieve their aspirations within resilient families and communities.
The programme includes 8 large-scale projects focused on:
1. Service improvements in Children’s Social Care, SEND, and Vulnerable Learners services.
2. Service assurance by reducing demand and managing costs related to children in care placements, transport, and special education.
3. Service modernisation through new organisational structures, processes, and digital practices.
We seek a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join as a Project and Programme Support Officer. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn about Children’s Services, contribute to project delivery, and support the Council’s improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support, including managing meetings, project documentation, finance tasks, and maintaining logs for risks, issues, and dependencies.
This 37-hour role is hybrid, with 50% home working and 50% office-based, ideally suited for a local candidate. Parking is not provided at the office, but nearby parking is available.
Essential Experience:
* Experience in project, programme, or business support.
* Experience organizing meetings, preparing agendas, report packs, minutes, and follow-up actions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Project and Excel.
* Experience using standard systems, tools, and process frameworks.
* Problem-solving initiative with senior officers.
Essential Skills:
* Excellent, adaptable IT skills.
* Adherence to corporate standards and policies on data protection, confidentiality, and information governance.
* Compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and council policies.
* Commitment to health and safety policies and equalities legislation.
