Job Description Electrical Design Engineer Full Time Derby/Bristol – Hybrid What you will be doing Rolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are recruiting Electrical Design Engineers to support them in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine Test Facilities The Rolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are responsible for designing and delivering the infrastructure required to test the next generation of gas turbine engines for both Civil and Defence applications. Responsibilities: You will be working for the Rolls-Royce Technical Authority for Aerospace Engine Test Facilities. In this role you will be working with colleagues locally (either in Derby or Bristol), and opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK as well as Internationally. The workload can be varied, and you will work on a wide range of projects; from developing the next generation of cutting-edge ground based test facility designs, through to modification of existing flying testbeds and design of new test rigs as well as ensuring the existing Rolls-Royce test portfolio is kept up to date. Your role will include: Capturing requirements. Specification and report writing. Developing electrical engineering designs and calculations. Developing requirements into concepts through to full detailed design. Oversight of the manufacture, installation, inspection and testing of designs. Working with our product definition engineering team (detailing / CAD department). Provide a technical design monitoring / oversight role. Chair / support design reviews. Peer to peer review and approvals. Developing verification schedules. Supporting acceptance testing procedures. Delivering test facilities which are safe in operation and during ongoing maintenance. Minimum HND/HNC qualified in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification with suitable experience in an Electrical Design role in Electrical Engineering. Experience of working within a project environment. Experience in preparing and delivering technical reports and documents. Experience in developing, testing and evaluating engineering designs. Self-motivated, with good interpersonal, planning and execution skills and a team player. Experience/understanding of any of the following would be advantageous, but not essential: Familiarity with British and Standards and Others (BS, EN, ISO Standards) Electrical Low Voltage design (BS7671) Control and Instrumentation (C&I) design (BS6739) Functional Safety (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511) CEng or IEng (or working towards) Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution Electrical design software (such as Amtech) Experience with Siemens NX / Teamcenter Join us & help Rolls-Royce to become a high-performing, competitive, resilient business.
