Teacher of Healthy Living
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and innovative Teacher of Healthy Living.
Healthy Living is an innovative aspect of our curriculum and a bespoke course unique to Southfield School. Praised during our recent Ofsted visit, it aims to establish and sustain positive behaviours while ensuring students understand and apply the expected approach to learning and values of the school on a daily basis. The course combines a number of traditional disciplines in Year 7 to connect the curriculum and at the same time reduce the number of staff students encounter through their timetable. All Heathy Living sessions are delivered by the same member of staff to build relationships and ease the transitional experience from Year 6 to 7. The programme is delivered up to, and including Key Stage 5. Nurturing a positive perception of physical activity, healthy nutritional habits and long-lasting learning habits are central to the Healthy Living Curriculum. This combines with personal development, careers guidance and immersive experiences that engage the students with global issues as we continue their progression as active participants locally, nationally and on the world stage.
The school was accredited as World Class in July 2021 and as such, we are committed to providing a world-class education for every student through a well-designed and balanced curriculum. Our established culture provides a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment.
Ethical leadership is at the core of all decision making at Southfield. As such, staff are valued, treated with respect and afforded a diverse range of opportunities that come with professional trust. We place significant emphasis on working collegiately as a staff to share our expertise and subsequently enhance the learning experience with our students. Every member of the staff is involved in a variety of professional learning programmes that take place every Wednesday across the academic year. All teachers are members of the Chartered College of Teaching providing access to the latest evidence and research.
You would be joining a friendly, hard-working team, with an ethos of collaborative planning and shared resources.
With our trust growing, we are likely to have many more career development opportunities arising in the future.
