This is an exciting time for the Day Unit at York Hospital as we continue to improve and expand our service to meet increased demand for day surgery care.
We currently provide day case surgery for several specialties including Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Breast, Orthopaedic, ENT and Max Fax as well as participate in day service clinics.
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be an integral member of the Day Unit leadership team, delivering exceptional care for the patients attending the unit.
Working alongside the Senior Sister, you will be focused on quality and lead change management in response to feedback from our service users.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have a valid registration with substantial years (3 years minimum) post-registration experience, and surgical experience is desirable.
They will be compassionate, transformational, and work in line with the Trust vision and values.
The Band 6 will line manage and provide professional leadership to the team alongside and in the absence of the Senior Sister. There is a strong emphasis on the need to develop excellent service performance and the need to work collaboratively with the team members within the surgical division and associated clinical staff.
The successful applicant will undertake the new role of coordinator and communicate at all levels within the wider Multidisciplinary Team to ensure there is a continual flow through all areas of the unit and at all stages of the patient journey, whilst ensuring safe and appropriate staffing to meet the needs of the service.
The successful applicant will also support the development of the team, undertake appraisals, assist with investigating incidents and complaints whilst sharing any learning gained from this, and act as a role model, always demonstrating a smart and professional image.
