Housing Options Officer (Ref: HRO) – 12 month fixed-term contract 30 hours per week contract Salary £ 22,776 pa Broxbourne Borough Council’s Housing Advice Service is looking for a highly professional and enthusiastic person to join this ambitious and innovative Housing Options Team. Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous experience of working in a Local Authority housing setting and knowledge of the relevant legislation, however this is not a necessity. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for assessing applications to join the housing register and allocating social housing in accordance with the Council’s Allocations Policy. The role is also responsible for providing housing advice to clients who are often experiencing difficult circumstances. It is therefore essential to be professional and empathetic. The role is interesting and varied, sitting within the Housing Advice Service. You will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues from other specialities such as homelessness and temporary accommodation as well as partner agencies. You will be a highly motivated person that has a genuine interest in helping people and has experience of working in a customer facing role. Excellent verbal communication skills in fluent English are essential, as this role requires having sensitive conversations and managing customer expectations effectively. Good written and analytical skills are equally important, therefore a GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Math’s is fundamental. A full driving license is also required as visits to clients in the community will be part of the role.
