Data Centre Shift Engineer – 52k + Package – Harlow
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Data Centre Shift Engineer to join a leading player in the data centre industry. Based in Harlow, Essex, this is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in critical environments who are looking to further their skills with training in HV/LV, ILM, and CNET.
As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all mechanical and electrical systems within a critical data centre environment. This is a shift-based role, and you will be part of a dedicated team ensuring that services are always available and operating efficiently
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor, operate, and maintain all mechanical and electrical systems within the data centre.
* Perform routine inspections and testing of critical systems including UPS, Generators, Cooling, and Fire Alarm systems.
* Respond promptly to alarms and issues, ensuring minimal downtime and swift recovery.
* Support both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across site.
* Ensure compliance with all safety and operational procedures in a critical environment.
* Participate in regular shift handovers and reporting to ensure continuity of service.
* Work effectively as part of a shift team, ensuring that any issues or incidents are communicated and resolved efficiently.
Requirements:
* Proven experience working in a critical site environment (data centres, hospitals, power stations, etc.).
* Ideally, you will have previous shift-based experience, but we are willing to train individuals with the right background.
* Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, or a willingness to learn through on-the-job training.
* Experience with critical infrastructure and emergency systems such as UPS, Generators, and Cooling systems.
* ILM and CNET qualifications (or willingness to complete these training courses once in the role).
* A proactive and solution-focused attitude with the ability to work under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
