Key Responsibilities:
1. Primary Care Nursing: Provide essential nursing care to the prison population, focusing on physical health and overall well-being.
2. Health Screening & Assessments: Carry out comprehensive health assessments and routine screenings to meet the varied healthcare needs of inmates.
3. Chronic Disease Management: Manage and care for long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension within a custodial setting.
4. Medication Administration & Management: Administer and manage prescribed medication safely, ensuring adherence to healthcare protocols within the prison.
5. Health Promotion: Deliver engaging health education initiatives to encourage healthier lifestyle choices among inmates.
6. Emergency Response: Act as a first responder to medical emergencies, coordinating necessary care and overseeing hospital transfers as required.
7. Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain secure, accurate, and up-to-date patient records in compliance with prison healthcare standards.
8. Safeguarding: Identify and report safeguarding concerns, ensuring the protection of vulnerable inmates.
9. Collaboration: Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, providing holistic care to inmates.

Qualifications and Experience:
1. Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
2. Prison Cleared: Must be cleared to work within a prison setting and undergo relevant security checks.
3. Minimum of 2 years' experience in primary care nursing, ideally within secure or custodial settings.
4. Experience in Chronic Disease Management and general healthcare delivery.
5. Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with inmates, prison staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
6. Ability to Work Under Pressure: Capable of managing a busy workload and making sound clinical decisions in challenging environments.
