Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies.
Help manage classroom behavior, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Encourage and support the social development of students, helping them to build friendships and engage with peers.
Provide assistance with personal care, where required, ensuring students' well-being and safety at all times.
Work closely with the teaching staff to monitor students' progress and provide feedback on their academic and social development.
Support students during breaks, transitions, and off-site activities, maintaining supervision and ensuring their safety.
Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in working with students with ASD.
Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for each student.
Contribute to the overall ethos of the school and promote its values in everyday practice.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable, though not essential.
A genuine passion for supporting children with learning difficulties and helping them reach their full potential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
An understanding of ASD and the specific needs of students with autism is beneficial
