DBS DIT provides digital capability that supports corporate services across the Ministry of Defence, including Finance, Commercial, Payroll and Human Resources for Military Personnel, Civilian Personnel and Veterans.
Within DBS, the DBS iHub sits within the Digital, Information & Technology (DIT) Team. The iHub is responsible for providing all DBS staff with MOD IT, Account Management, Equipment and Infrastructure.
DBS iHub Manager South position plays an important role in the delivery of MOD IT Services to all staff across DBS and our contracted partner SSCL with particular responsibility for Abbey Wood North and 3 other DBS sites in the South of England.
Working alongside the DBS iHub Manager North this role will be responsible for the services the iHub provide such as account management, equipment and LSO services at site level and across the DBS estate.
This position has Line Management responsibility for 3 staff based at 2 DBS locations Abbey Wood North and Gosport.
There will be a requirement to travel as required to support staff and provide onsite service support to the 4 DBS South sites as well as occasionally travel to DBS North sites.
The role will work closely with the DBS iHub Lead to understand the position of live service incidents, and provide critical support in the roll out of MOD IT initiatives and tech refresh at site and across DBS.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
Manage BAU i-Hub activity, ensuring processes are in line with policy and best practice - maintaining compliance with IT Security and Information Mgmt controls is imperative.
Ensure appropriate user account management is carried out for MODNet IT (including creation, amendment and closure of user accounts).
Assist the Service Management Lead to ensure unit staff are aware of key documents, in particular the Acceptable Use Policy (JSP 740) which applies to all MOD ICT, and the SyOps and User Guides for the systems they use.
Undertake MOD IT roles of Local Security Officer and Authorised Requestor
Engage in activities related to MODNet IT including audit, replacement, distribution and fault resolution.
Validate, establish and maintain access permissions to MOD IT Accounts and assets for external users.
Act as a point of contact for all iHub queries on site and remotely.
Assist the Service Management team with MOD IT incident management and ensure all issues are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner
Issue any necessary communications informing DBS employees of any unavailability/issues/changes of the MOD IT services.
Provide consistent professional support to all customers striving for excellent customer service.
Identify opportunities to challenge and improve existing process across the team, to support a continuous improvement culture.
