Our Whitstable joinery workshop is looking to take on a specialist mill operative to carry out the preparation of materials for the use for Bench Joinery to high quality standards. You will be experience in commercial joinery including reception desks, feature wall panelling, ceiling rafts, veneer work, solid hardwoods, laminates, carcases and interior doors.
You will be working in an environment encouraging team work and the mentoring of less experienced colleagues and apprentices
Key Responsibilities
* To effectively communicate with colleagues – Production manager and Work Shop Manager
* To carry out milling requirements to support bench joinery to a high-quality standard and within specified timescales, using drawings and cutting sheets.
* To ensure equipment is maintained correctly and in accordance with health and safety processes. Reporting any issues
* Be mindful of health and safety processes and compliance.
* To work as a team on joint projects or in a standalone capacity using own initiative.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Ensuring PPE procedures are adhered to.
* To attend site as necessary.
* Work and communicate effectively with in the Joinery team.
Qualifications
* Minimum NVQ Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery, Level 3 preferred (or City and Guilds Equivalent)
* Time served Joiners will also be considered with provable work experience and references
Skills & Experiences
* Knowledge of building and construction
* 5 years plus worth of experience
* Good attention to detail
* Knowledge of maths
* Ability to work well with others
* Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
* Ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools
* Ability to work on your own
* Sensitivity and understanding
* Ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
