Main purpose of job
As a Nursery Practitioner, you’ll play a crucial role in creating a safe and stimulating atmosphere for babies and children from six months to four years. Working in partnership with parents and our supportive team, you’ll plan engaging activities, foster children’s curiosity, and help them achieve key developmental milestones. Main Responsibilities
1. Provide a high-quality learning environment
o Work in a team to provide safe, high-quality education and care to children in the setting.
o Deliver session plans and implement individual action plans to ensure that each child is working towards early learning outcomes.
o Offer play and learning activities that provide appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
o Act as a key worker to a small group of children, maintain a portfolio for each child and liaise closely with parents/carers.
o Be aware of any special needs a child may have and familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
o Implement systems of observation and record-keeping so that children’s attainment and progress are regularly assessed.
o Participate in setting up the room each day, the provision of healthy snacks, and tidying away.
2. Work in partnership with parents and carers
o Liaise closely with parents and carers and facilitate their participation in their child's learning.
o Share information about the setting and its curriculum.
o Promote and engage in two-way sharing of information about the child's progress.
o Build relationships with parents and carers to encourage their involvement.
3. Peer support
o Share relevant knowledge and information on play and learning activities.
o Participate in regular team meetings and assist in the planning of activities.
o Participate in individual and team processes for reflecting on practice and identifying areas for improvement.
4. Implement policies, systems and procedures
o Implement all relevant Peeple policies, systems and procedures.
o Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
o Implement health and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
o Report all accidents and incidents to the Manager or Deputy Manager.
5. General
o Promote an inclusive approach to work with families and children.
o Undertake relevant training and development as required.
o Undertake other duties as required by Peeple consistent with the skills and experience required by the role.
Summary of main terms and conditions of employment
1. Working hours: minimum 30 hours per week up to 40.25 hours per week across 4 or 5 days.
2. Location: Little Peeple Nursery on the Oxford Academy Campus in Littlemore.
3. Probationary period: 6 months.
4. Whole year employees get 6 weeks paid holiday per annum.
5. Salary according to experience and qualifications from minimum wage to up to £25,079 p.a.
6. Full on-the-job training.
7. Peeple’s chosen pension provider is ‘The People’s Pension’.
8. All Peeple jobs are offered subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
9. We will need to see original copies of relevant qualifications and proof of your eligibility to work in the UK.
