About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and engaging Finance Director to join our Executive team at TransPennine Express Trains. Working in a public sector organisation, you will be highly experienced in developing and implementing key financial, legal, procurement, and technology strategies, ensuring alignment with company requirements, governance standards, and meeting deadlines. Experience in public sector accounting and responsibility for payroll operations would be an advantage.
You will provide dynamic leadership and governance excellence, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, business risk management, and corporate social responsibility, whilst promoting inclusivity and the highest health & safety standards. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will work collaboratively across the Executive team to meet financial objectives and drive the finance function forward.
The successful candidate will establish an optimal operating model that supports sustainable and profitable growth, supporting business decisions which provide timely, accurate financial assessments, analysis, and information to support strategic decisions and day-to-day operations across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking with a strong technical background and a proven record of success in financial management, and ACA/CIMA qualified. The role holder requires strong political awareness plus an appreciation of the demands of conflicting business and customer interests and the need to meet statutory requirements.
A very high level of commercial awareness and evidenced ability to liaise closely with business operations and commercial teams to ensure business and financial information and activity is congruent and consistent is essential.
