Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the medical team working in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and Medical Same Day Emergency Care (mSDEC) at Royal Derby Hospital.
Aimed at middle grade doctors who want to gain further experience and confidence in acute medicine, these posts will provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen your clinical skills and to work closely with consultant physicians from various sub-specialties on the MAU/mSDEC.
Our reshaped services will provide the Clinical Fellows with a strong sense of teamwork, pride, and opportunities for professional development. These posts are all at the interface between primary and secondary care and require excellent communication skills.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work the following shifts on MAU:
1. 08:00-16:00
2. 15:00-00:30
3. 20:30-08:30
On weekends:
1. 08:00-21:00
For mSDEC:
1. 08:00-16:00
2. 11:00-19:00
3. 15:00-23:00
You will support the nursing team, other middle grade doctors, junior medical staff, and the Consultant Physician on MAU/mSDEC.
Applicants must have completed at least 4 years post-qualification experience either in the UK or abroad and have experience in Acute Medicine/Medical specialities. In addition, candidates must have experience and confidence in NHS systems and practices (or equivalent) and must hold full MRCP qualification.
All applicants must have Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice at the time of submitting an application.
You will be employed on Local terms and conditions. The salary will mirror the NHS Doctors and Dentist in Training (England) 2016.

Job Responsibilities
Key tasks of this role are:
1. Provision of medical care to the MAU/mSDEC & Acute Medicine services.
2. Assessment and management of patients on MAU/mSDEC.
3. Active participation in Clinical Governance, audit & teaching activities.
4. Administrative tasks for the services.
5. Keeping up to date with guidelines, protocols, and clinical skills.
6. Participating in CME & CPD.
7. Participation in annual appraisal & job planning.
8. Working flexibly across MAU and mSDEC.

Qualifications
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Full MRCP UK.
* Basic Life Support certification.
Desirable
* Advanced Life Support certification.
